We had a quick chat with Guy who heads up the popular Farm Village Roast Shop & Cycle Stop in Noordhoek and here is what he has to say.
When did your passion for coffee start?
1983 when I landed in Spain.
When did you start trading with coffee?
2002 selling from my trailer at the BP station and at local markets in the deep south.
How did the Farm Village Roast come about?
In 2015 Pete (Foodbarn) approached me about changing the Tourist Information Centre into a coffee shop to assist with the overflow of cyclist and customers that were flooding the Farm Village for a quick cuppa. We decided to renovate the building and build in our own roaster. We roasted our first batch of coffee beans in May 2015 and we are now roasting with about 10 different blends selling just about 1 ton of coffee a month.
So now that you have achieved so much with the awesome coffee at The Farm Village, what can we expect next?
Well…. I am now venturing into The Farm Village Biltong! We have just renovated the old generator room at the Village and will be making our proudly deep south Farm Village biltong!
Ooh when can we expect the first batch to be ready?
Well… follow The Farm Village page – we will post about it very soon!
Things to be thankful for?
‘The Guy’ that makes your coffee and biltong 🙂
