Meet Chevone Petersen, blogger (you can find some her wonderful work on our site), working mom and proud resident of the deep south. This month’s SPM Mom of the Month, with her passion for writing she hopes to add some laughter, insight or encouragement to someone’s day. Find out more about this awesome lady.
Do you have a business? If yes, what is it about?
How did it start?
Descibels of love – This NPO was started out of my personal experience of isolation after my son was diagnosed with a hearing impairment and I wanted to reach out to other parents and empower them.
My blog – I love to write (recently participated in NaNoWriMo and wrote a novel) and share my random life experiences in the hope to add some laughter, insight or encouragement to someone’s day.
Why do you live in the deep South?
Why not? I was born in the Deep South and can’t imagine moving further than the Clovelly Robots lol!
How many children do you have and how would they describe you?
“You are very very kind and you are very very sweet and sometimes you are a bit mean and you are awesome” – my 8 year old son.
Then I also have my niece with me, she is 4 and keeps me on my tippi toes!
What is your favourite thing to do with your kids in the deep South?
We love the beach (early mornings when everything is so refreshing) and of course bike rides at the wetlands.
What is the best advice you ever received from your mother?
Uhm I don’t know ’cause I usually don’t listen to her. Gosh hope my son don’t read this!!!
How does the community benefit from your involvement in it?
Chevone was too modest to answer this question, but I think it is plain to see how the community benefits from someone who shares their experiences in order to help others. She does this in both her NPO and blog. Keep on doing what you do Chevone, we think your are awesome!
